Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2006, Bulgaria's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 21.4% compared to 2005, reaching 20.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.0%.

Bulgaria ranks 22nd out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 67.6% (from 64.5% in 2001).
