In 2008, Bulgaria's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 13.6% compared to 2007, reaching 2,366,000.

Bulgaria ranks 14th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.5% (from 2,309,000 in 2003).
