In 1985, Denmark's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 2.9% compared to 1984, reaching 164,385.

Denmark ranks 15th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 15.5% (from 142,281 in 1980).
