In 1980, Finland's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 7.0% compared to 1979, reaching 82,018.

Finland ranks 16th out of 23 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 35.8% (from 60,398 in 1975).
