In 1985, Finland's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 6.0% compared to 1984, reaching 108,996.

Finland ranks 16th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 32.9% (from 82,018 in 1980).
