In 2001, France's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 42.1% compared to 2000, reaching 11.0%.

France ranks 18th out of 22 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 38.9% (from 18.0% in 1996).
