In 2024, Hungary's students enrolled in tertiary education by education level, programme orientation, sex and field of education increased by 7.0% compared to 2023, reaching 310,414.

Hungary accounts for 1.6% of the EU-27 total of 19,065,264.

Hungary ranks 14th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.3% (from 281,461 in 2019).
