In 2006, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 18.0% compared to 2005, reaching 26.9%.

Ireland ranks 4th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 38.9% (from 44.0% in 2001).
