In 2013, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 4.8% compared to 2012, reaching 15.7%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 17.3%.
Ireland ranks 17th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 4.3% (from 16.4% in 2008).
