In 2000, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 11.8% compared to 1999, reaching 19.0%.

Ireland ranks 3rd out of 21 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 11.8% (from 17.0% in 1995).
