Population on 1 January by age and sex

In 1970, Ireland's population on 1 january by age and sex increased by 0.7% compared to 1969, reaching 1,464,400.

Ireland ranks 19th out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 2.5% (from 1,428,500 in 1965).
