In 2022, Italy's share of women researchers by sector of performance increased by 0.9% compared to 2021, reaching 36.4.

Italy ranks 11th out of 19 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.1% (from 34.3 in 2017).
