Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2002, Latvia's population change increased by 3.6% compared to 2001, reaching 8.7.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.1.

Latvia ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 13.0% (from 7.7 in 1997).
