Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2002, Latvia's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 5.0% compared to 2001, reaching 13.4%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.6%.

Latvia ranks 25th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 22.9% (from 10.9% in 1997).
