In 2003, Latvia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 4.8% compared to 2002, reaching 648,900.

Latvia ranks 21st out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 34.4% (from 482,670 in 1998).
