In 2004, Latvia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 5.7% compared to 2003, reaching 686,100.

Latvia ranks 22nd out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 30.4% (from 526,000 in 1999).
