In 2006, Latvia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 10.7% compared to 2005, reaching 822,010.

Latvia ranks 22nd out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 40.2% (from 586,200 in 2001).
