Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2002, Lithuania's population change decreased by 4.4% compared to 2001, reaching 8.6.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.1.

Lithuania ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 18.9% (from 10.6 in 1997).
