In 1977, Luxembourg's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 2.9% compared to 1976, reaching 7,196.

Luxembourg ranks 21st out of 22 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 19.7% (from 6,014 in 1972).
