In 1989, Luxembourg's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 4.6% compared to 1988, reaching 11,026.

Luxembourg ranks 23rd out of 24 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 18.5% (from 9,306 in 1984).
