At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2021, Malta's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 1.3% compared to 2020, reaching 15.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 16.1%.

Malta ranks 12th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 4.2% (from 16.5% in 2016).
