Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2008, Malta's population change increased by 5.4% compared to 2007, reaching 9.8.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 10.6.

Malta ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 3.9% (from 10.2 in 2003).
