Population change - Demographic balance and crude rates at national level

In 2016, Malta's population change increased by 1.0% compared to 2015, reaching 9.8.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 9.9.

Malta ranks 18th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 2.0% (from 10.0 in 2011).
