Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2013, Malta's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 1.1% compared to 2012, reaching 64.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 86.8%.

Malta ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 5.5% (from 61.5% in 2008).
