In 2018, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex decreased by 8.2% compared to 2017, reaching 19.0%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 19.6%.
Portugal ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 22.1% (from 24.4% in 2013).
