In 2004, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex stood at 21.6%.

Portugal ranks 2nd out of 13 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 1.8% (from 22.0% in 1999).
