At-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex

In 2021, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 12.2% compared to 2020, reaching 17.5%.

The figure is above the EU-27 average of 16.1%.

Portugal ranks 9th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 3.8% (from 18.2% in 2016).
