In 2017, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category increased by 15.2% compared to 2016, reaching 76.

Portugal ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 37.7% (from 122 in 2012).
