In 2016, Portugal's police-recorded offences by offence category decreased by 34.0% compared to 2015, reaching 66.

Portugal ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 42.1% (from 114 in 2011).
