In 2021, Portugal's at-risk-of-poverty rate of older people by detailed age group increased by 17.8% compared to 2020, reaching 20.5.

Portugal accounts for 123.5% of the EU-27 total of 16.6.

Portugal ranks 8th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 10.8% (from 18.5 in 2016).
