Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2014, Romania's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 3.4% compared to 2013, reaching 39.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 86.9%.

Romania ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 79.4% (from 21.8% in 2009).
