In 1996, Slovakia's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine increased by 4.2% compared to 1995, reaching 1,058,425.

Slovakia ranks 17th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 16.8% (from 906,129 in 1991).
