Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2002, Sweden's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 4.2% compared to 2001, reaching 49.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.6%.

Sweden ranks 14th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 25.6% (from 66.9% in 1997).
