In 1990, Sweden's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 4.0% compared to 1989, reaching 358,937.

Sweden ranks 7th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 18.0% (from 304,114 in 1985).
