In 1995, Sweden's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 2.6% compared to 1994, reaching 408,132.

Sweden ranks 8th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 13.7% (from 358,937 in 1990).
