Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2019, Bulgaria's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 9.5% compared to 2018, reaching 20.1%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 77.5%.

Bulgaria ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 25.6% (from 27.0% in 2014).
