Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2020, Bulgaria's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 21.9% compared to 2019, reaching 24.5%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 89.5%.

Bulgaria ranks 26th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 5.4% (from 25.9% in 2015).
