Life expectancy by age and sex

In 1998, Bulgaria's life expectancy by age and sex increased by 1.1% compared to 1997, reaching 74.6.

Bulgaria ranks 24th out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 0.7% (from 75.1 in 1993).
