Life expectancy by age and sex

In 1998, Bulgaria's life expectancy by age and sex increased by 0.6% compared to 1997, reaching 67.4.

Bulgaria ranks 21st out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 0.3% (from 67.6 in 1993).
