Life expectancy by age and sex

In 1999, Bulgaria's life expectancy by age and sex increased by 1.2% compared to 1998, reaching 68.2.

Bulgaria ranks 21st out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 1.3% (from 67.3 in 1994).
