In 2023, Bulgaria's main national accounts tax aggregates decreased by 3.2% compared to 2022, reaching 29.8%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 39.7%.

Bulgaria ranks 24th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 0.7% (from 29.6% in 2018).
