Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2009, Cyprus's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 22.3% compared to 2008, reaching 57.6%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 75.7%.

Cyprus ranks 11th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 12.1% (from 65.5% in 2004).
