In 1995, Finland's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 2.9% compared to 1994, reaching 161,757.

Finland ranks 17th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 17.0% (from 138,255 in 1990).
