In 2024, France's students enrolled in tertiary education by education level, programme orientation, sex and field of education increased by 0.9% compared to 2023, reaching 2,879,212.

France ranks 2nd out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 7.2% (from 2,685,408 in 2019).
