In 2024, Spain's students enrolled in tertiary education by education level, programme orientation, sex and field of education increased by 3.1% compared to 2023, reaching 2,444,285.

Spain accounts for 12.8% of the EU-27 total of 19,065,264.

Spain ranks 3rd out of 25 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 17.3% (from 2,083,979 in 2019).
