In 1998, Greece's population on 1 january by age group and sex increased by 0.5% compared to 1997, reaching 370,455.

Greece ranks 9th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.8% (from 346,983 in 1993).
