In 2009, Hungary's passenger cars, by type of motor energy and size of engine decreased by 1.4% compared to 2008, reaching 3,013,720.

Hungary ranks 13th out of 26 EU member states with reported data — in the top half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 6.6% (from 2,828,000 in 2004).
