In 2016, Ireland's at-risk-of-poverty rate by poverty threshold, age and sex increased by 6.2% compared to 2015, reaching 18.8%.
The figure is below the EU-27 average of 21.4%.
Ireland ranks 15th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.
Over the past five years, the indicator has grown by 9.9% (from 17.1% in 2011).
