Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2006, Ireland's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data decreased by 9.2% compared to 2005, reaching 23.7%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 65.0%.

Ireland ranks 21st out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 29.5% (from 33.6% in 2001).
