Government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data

In 2007, Ireland's government deficit/surplus, debt and associated data increased by 0.8% compared to 2006, reaching 23.9%.

The figure is below the EU-27 average of 62.4%.

Ireland ranks 20th out of 27 EU member states with reported data — in the bottom half of the distribution.

Over the past five years, the indicator has fallen by 22.7% (from 30.9% in 2002).
